And again a storm with heavy rain is over Pociūnai. One pilot managed to come back just before it began. He reported that he reached the first point (that one in the Poland) without making a single spiral. But after that had to make lots of them to finish the task :).

On the 20th of July in the evening till the midnight a group of glider pilots from Pociūnai airfield (Prienai region) assembled and prepared for the exhibition glider-veteran LAK 12 LIETUVA at the Europe square by the municipality of Vilnius city.

 

The glider decorated with symbols of the 15th European Gliding Championships will be exposed in one of the main squares of the European Capital of Culture of 2009 until the 10^th of August.

 

European Gliding Championship is organized in Pociūnai now for the third time. The first event of such a standard was arranged here in 2004. The first Woman Championships took place also in Pociūnai in 2001.

 

We hope, that exposed in one of the main and the most visited squares of the capital the glider, which already caught lots of attention from the bypassers, will encourage to take an interest in gliding sport not only the citizens of Vilnius but also the visitors of the city.

Clouds are covering Pociūnai and the sun sometimes emerges for a short moment. Again, as our meteo-woman Nataša said, we have a cold front. And again we must expect showers of rain… Luckily, the forecasts are bringing better news for tomorrow and following days.

Despite today’s not so much promising weather, task setter made an assigned area task with two areas (one of them in Poland – Rudzic), 171,0 km/330,7 km.
